Gas Hoses

These hoses are particularly suitable for connecting appliances to your gas system; their flexiblity allows installation / removal / movement of the appliance without stressing the compression joints. (Click on the pictures to enlarge the image)

All flexible gas hose must conform to (be marked with) BS3212, and not exceed 1m in length.
Flexible hoses must be installed without stress or tight radius turns. Hose passing though bulkheads, partitions or decks must be protected from abrasion.
Flexible hose must either be a pre-assembled length with integral threaded metallic ends or alternativley be secured to nozzles with a metal crimped clamp or worm drive hose clamp (hose clamps / jubilee clips can only be used in the gas locker).

To ensure vibration won't cause pipes to fracture or connections / joints to become loose, pipework must be secured rigidly with fixing clips spaced no more than 500mm (20in) apart.
Joints must be made with compression fittings. To protect joints from becoming loose due to vibration they must be secured rigidly with fixing clips spaced no more than 150mm (6in) from each connection.

A bulkhead coupling should be used when a pipe passes through a bulkhead that may abrade the gas pipe and cause a system leak / failure. Pipework must be protected from damage where it penetrates bulkheads or walls by using grommets or bulkhead fittings.

To ensure your LPG system is leak free there needs to be a means for testing it. There are two solutions:
1) Have a readily accessible approved test point in the pipework,
2) Install a Bubble tester in the gas locker (which allows easy checking of the system at any time without the need for tools or equipment).
